speedometer cable

I am going to change the speedometer cable in my truck tomorrow and I was wondering how it plugged into the back of the guage. Thanks for any help

its threaded. it just unscrews.

It threads into the back of the insrument panel much like a tv cable does to the tv.

anybody remember what size wrench you need

I've never needed a wrench...just a large pair of slip-joint pliers. It's not supposed to be on there that tight, just snug.

I have always just twisted it off with my fingers. They are never tight, unless someone cranked it down because they thought it should.

I put my new one on with my fingers, but I had to use pliers to take the old ends off. If its a new cable, the needle might kinda bounce around at certain speeds. I haven't done it yet, but people have said to put graphite inside the housing to lubricate it, so the needle doesn't bounce.
