speedometer cable

Post by SRDUMBYE »

hi guys, i'm having some troubles making all my gauges fully operable. Rigth now all i need is finish a pipe bifurcation for the oil presure, and my speedometer cable. The question is: is ther any way to make it, if i have both ending points but the plastic tube covering the steel cable is burned? It was burned during a exaust pipe repaire. And i im looking for a way to do it since i've been looking for it and seems that it is no longer aviable in my city, nor mexico neither, at least not new

Thanks for the answers

SRDUMBYE,
You should be able to find the cable in a junkyard. If not both of these guys have a new ones for your truck for about $30.00 U.S.

our junkyards are abotu the same then. well they have stuff from the mid 80's in the yards here. and only very few older trucks come in once in a while. you have to be fast and lucky to get the old stuff first.

When my cable hit the exhaust it melted the plastic causing the cable to seize, twist, and mangle itself into total destruction. Kragens had it in stock for $20. You could see if an internet order will ship out of states. Or possibly ask for one in the Parts Wanted section.

I hit up one guy when i need parts, the "global" junk yards dont have crap. But the ones locally run usually do. Or southeast missouri, they have 100s of this trucks.

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???

Craig , come to ft worth and I'll put you in one yard that has about 10-20 of our truck (and a lot of decent parts still). Last time I was out there I begged the owner and she told me those trucks won't go to the crusher. The guy that runs her yard(and crusher) drove my school bus when I was in middle school and he's an old school rodder, he told me as long as he's there those trucks ain't in the way.
