69 F250 interior fuel tank swap

Post by ChrisB »

Can anyone tell me the capacity of the interior behind the seat tank in a 69 F250 Camper Special, if that's important. I am considering running diesel in one. Are there fuel lines ready to go for that configuration? I can improvise but if something is available I can tap the tank and put one right next to the other. it would be swapped into a 72 Custom.

i forget exact size. but they came in 17.5 18.5 and 19 gallon tanks i think. bolting up a 69 tank into a 72 thought will require different bolt holes to be made in either the tank flange of the back of the cab. i think i would redrill the tank flange. the 69 tank is held in at the bottom with 2 holders that go under the rear cab mount bolts. they can be used in a 72 no problem. the 72 tanks had two bolt holes on either side bottom to hold those tanks in. the 69 tank top flange used 3 botls on top. and the 72 tank had 5 bolts on top. the 72 cab has bolts that go through the cab. the 69 botls are inside of the cab mounted in a lip in the back cab wall.

I want to say I've put 19-20 gallons in it before. I'd rather not fill it because I'll have to drain it, as it's going down for quite a bit of work which will be a good time to pull the tank and possibly swap the tank to the other truck. Thanks for the detailed info. I'll post up later on if I complete this swap.
