Backup light stays on passenger side

Post by pickly »

i was working on a recent project to replace my broken shift collar and when i put everything back together my backup light is on in the rear passenger side. Maybe i got some wires in the wrong pin out on the connector below the steering column. Anyone know the pin out wiring for the harness connector at the bottom of the steering column. Could I also have a pinched wire in the shift collar that's making ground and causing that light to stay on?

Much appreciated!

the automatic trucks use the nss as the backup light switch. it is probably out of adjustment is yours is a automatic column shift . if it is a manual trans the manual trans switch is on the trasnmission and the wires go under the trans cover and up to the firewall plug. why is only one on? maybe the other light is burnt out.

Thanks all. The tang part on the NSS broke off so I wired a shunt to bypass the NSS. I got the info from one of the forum feeds. My transmission is an automatic C6. Maybe the bypass shunt is causing only one light to stay on? I need to find a replacement NSS tang and re-wire it.

the vendors have those tangs. you can also bailing wire the nss over to the park side temporaily if you need to. no need to wire around it.

Thanks! I'll splice the wires back and give that a try! Great site you have here! Thanks for all of the great info.
