Ignition Switch

Post by JMcTurnan »

So someone tried to steal my truck. I woke up one morning went out to my truck, and my ignition lock cylinder was on the floor board. I put it back in and it works. But now the housing for the lock cylinder turns with the key so it wont start. I have to hold the trim piece around it then turn the key. What holds the ignition set up in so I can keep it from turning.

Now the cylinder turns by itself sometimes. And it will spin and unless its in a good spot, it will shut itself off.

At least you can feel safe knowing that if someone couldn't figure out how to hotwire one of these things, you must have some dumb criminals working in your neighborhood.

well i seem to have gotten here late but you didnt have the bezel tight enough is all. those dummys didnt need to remove the switch from the dash to steal it.

Yea, it is hard as hell to tighten those bezels. What i did, i held the bezel from the front, and turn the ignition with a scredriver. It worked, but I'm sure that problem will arise again.

yeah they are hard to get tight. and that may have been the best way to get it tight without the bezel tool. you can use a screwdriver and hammer but that will tear up the bezel.
