What a coincidence....so am I! Well, I'm actually having someone more experienced at AutoCAD than myself do it. Here's one of the preliminary images, we should be finalizing this up this week sometime.

It'll be interesting to compare yours with mine when they're finished. Are you using factory brackets or reproductions?

Good afternoon Zakt and Keith!

Both of your drawings look fantastic.

This makes me wonder: of what benefit are reproduction brackets without the bucket seats that accompany them? Or do these brackets work with a variety of bucket seats?

Original Mustang bucket seats are substantially easier to find than the brackets necessary to mount them in a truck. But it would be also extremely easy to adapt virtually any bucket seat to the brackets. The bolt spacing on the seat frame is pretty standard, from what I've found. In fact, years ago I had a '68 XL fastback with lo-back buckets and center console, and I was able to literally bolt a set of high-back Camaro seats onto the factory brackets. The mounting holes were identical.

'Afternoon Keith,

That's quite interesting! Thanks for explaining. Knowing that, I can see how valuable these brackets would be.

I have one inner bracket with round holes and one with square holes on the floor mounting side... does everyone have this on theres?

Using the factory brackets... some the measurements are tuff as they differ from one to the other.

Well, I got the final CAD schematics back today for all four bucket seat brackets. The picture I posted above was of the inner bracket, here's a 3D version of the outer bracket:

I now have a CD with professionally-designed schematics on PDF, as well as the actual CAD files to be opened/used in both AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Now I just gotta figure out what to do with them. ;)

We sent these detailed schematics to a fabrication shop that specializes in this kind of thing to get a quote on production costs. The quote that returned was for one set of four brackets for a total of just over $212 for the full set. However, by upping the order to 5-6 complete sets I was told the price would probably come substantially.

I smell a group buy

I would be tempted to throw a set of original style buckets in my truck.

Right now I have a bench seat out of a 97 F250 and as comfy as it may be, I would rather have the factory style buckets. I have a set of 67 mustang seat frames I sandblasted and painted waiting on a home.

The inner brackets use a bolt similar to a carriage bolt, so they should have the square hole. The bolt is a tight fit (not quite a press fit).

The measurements should be the same on all of the factory brackets. The outer brackets bolt into the same holes as the bench, and there are dimples in the floor pan where the inner holes have to be drilled.

I just installed a set of factory buckets in my 70, and it was a piece of cake.
