Turn signal won´t blink

Post by Florian »

Hi!

The turn signal on the passenger side of my truck won´t blink. When you set the signal to the right the tail light gets brighter but it does not blink.

What causes this? How can I check it?

Sorry for my stupid questions, I´ve got no clue when it comes to wiring.

Does this have something to do with the fuses in this black plastic box under the dash?

Check your front parking / turn signal bulb.
It is a double filament bulb and if the turn signal doesn't work in the front it won't blink in the rear.
So even if the park light works the turn signal may not.

Another question: Is there any way to make the clicking noise of the turn signal louder? Or something like a control light when the turn signal is on?

There are indicator lights in the instrument panel for the right and left turn signal. Your bulbs may be burned out there too!

Then the bulbs have burnt out there.

What is a louder flasher unit? Is it the relais that causes the clicking noise?

the flasher can. is what makes the noise. they can be bought normal liek is in the truck now or you can get different types. like the louder ones or ones for led lights or heavy duty ones for pulling trailers. they also make them in electronic types for other types of applications.

Figure I will post this here and make use of an already existing thread. I have a similar problem with my signals and was wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar or knows what might be causing this:

When I turn on my left turn signal, sometimes the blinker will light and stay on without any blinking at all. Other time (more often), it will blink VERY slowly and stay on for about 4-5 seconds before going off for 4-5 seconds, etc... When I turn on my right blinker, sometimes it does not come on at all. Other times, it will work in a similar fashion as the left, only not quite as long a delay but still very slow.

The odd part, is that my emergency flashers work perfectly and both sides flash on and off at the normal interval of maybe a second each.

What would cause this??

I did just place a large order from LMC that should be here next week of numerous items I need for other projects, and did include a new flasher and new signal system for inside the steering wheel (my right indicator does not deactivate after making a turn). So I am hoping that with replacing these 2 items, my problems will be solved. I would have made an uneducated guess that maybe my flasher was bad and replacing it will solve my problems, but then why do my emergency flashers blink at normal speed if that is the case??

Anyway, any ideas or help would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Rich

Got the bed mounted back on mine yesterday, and the blinkers do all kind of weird stuff...left one was on but din´t blink yesterday, today it worked perfectly fine...right one lights up but doesn´t blink...operating in manually untill I´ve got it repaired....sometimes the right one blinks two times and stays on after that without blinking..

Emergency flashers are fine.

Also it does not make the clicking noise when the right signal is set, left one´s noise is fine.

(my right indicator does not deactivate after making a turn).
Are they supposed to do this? Mine doesn´t deactivate neither left or right....I always thought these trucks can´t deactivate the blinkers automatically?

My left turn signal deactivates after turning, its just my right that doesnt. So I would assume that they are supposed to. Besides that, it seems that you are having the same blinker issues I am for the most part...

Hopefully once I replace the flasher and the turn signal switch inside the column, the problems will be fixed. We will see...
