Can you explain the difference in the Electronic; and mechanical voltage regualator beside the obvious. Will i get better performace frm the electronic unit
buy'em dirty sale'em clean
get more money for the same

This is how I understand the voltage regulator works. The regulator compares the alternator voltage to the battery voltage. On a mechancal unit, a reed switch closes when the voltage is below a set point and opens when the voltage is above a point. The electronic unit, uses solid state circuits to accomplish the same task. If the switch stays closed the system gets to much power and the battery can over charge or parts can burn out. When not running, a closed switch (welded shut) can cause a short which will cause battery to drain. If the switch does not close, the system will not get enough power and the battery dies as the electrical draws the power down. The alternator can supply much more power than the system needs so a regulator cycles the alternator on and off. If robust, the electronic unit should last longer than a mechanical unit and provide much better quality power to the vehicle as it can cycle faster. The electronic unit should also be less expensive or the manufacturers would not have used the units.

The mechanical is adjustable but unless you are a highly trained auto electric tech if you mess with it you will have junk.
