Too much play in window crank
My driver's side window has a lot of play in it. That was the door that was opened most often and the window that was lowered most often over 40 years. I can turn the crank about 20 degrees before it engages the teeth to lower or raise the glass. What do I need to replace? The regulator assembly? If so, should I just go ahead and replace the roller(s) too?

that soudns like bad or worn gear in the regulator. you could look at the roller and see if it is gone.

Re: Too much play in window crank
I can get new rollers off eBay for about $6. I should probably go ahead and replace those too while I have the door apart if I replace the regulator. I'm wondering about the window channel rubber too.

I would replace the rollers and channel rubber while you already have it apart it makes the job easyier. Also if you have the extra money replace the old window fuzzies (window sweepers) while you have the window dropped down in the door and the window will roll up and down like new. Dang. I don't know. I'll have to check the LMC catalog. I figure that I'll just buy a new regulator since used ones are probably as worn out as mine. I replaced the fuzzies last year. I should have bought the newer rubber ones. They aren't as authentic but they work better.

If you get one from LMC it does. Not sure about anybody else.fordman wrote:do the new regulators have new wheels on them already?
