Do you think these seat belt connections are OK?

Post by Farmall »

Woah.... I took the seat cover off to wash it and I noticed something. I don't know why he did it but granddad managed to scary up the truck a little (that be bailing wire folks). I'd felt OK with the lap belts before, not an over the shoulder but better than nuthun', right?
Or, was this one of those "Monday" on the assembly line problems?

Not one but both! I never had the seat back up with the seat forward to see this before.

Good day Farmall!

Those connections look perfect to me!

These photos belong in the Hall of Fame, in this thread: Bootleg aftermarket awesomeness! show us what you got.

That thread hasn't been updated since last Winter, so it's ready for this!

My 1963 F100 Unibody does not have and never has had seatbelts. Apparently, back then safety was optional...

I'll have to break out the camera instead of the phone to get a good picture to put in the Hall of Fame.

OK, Hall of Fame pics.
You look at the seat and think, lap belts, they'll do.....

Then you look a little deeper and find issues.

In Mexico, where I grew up, a piece of bailing wire and a pair of pliers are an essential part of every emergency repair kit. Looks like the idea has caught on. :)

Good morning Farmall,

Those latest photos are excellent!

What makes these seat belt extenders so premium is not only the material selected, but the quantity of wire used, and the way it was tied up.

You can see that the architect spared no expense in the quantity department, since there's plenty of extra wire jangling around--that could be by design, to make the extenders as adjustable as possible. And the fashion in which they're tied clearly demonstrates the inspired, passionate urgency of this implementation, not unlike the composition of Mozart's Symphony #20 in 1772.

IMHO, you should remove one loop of wire from each belt for weight reduction... :D

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???
