I just built and installed speakers and a stereo in my 68, did it this way so I could leave the original AM in the dash.

I was buying a stereo and wasn't sure where to locate my speakers as well. Then the stereo guy showed me a set of enclosed Pioneer speakers that could be bolted or screwed to either the back corner of the cab, or in front of the bench seat. I opted for the floor install. They are semi-hidden and sound great. I've had them over 5 years now and they still sound good. Also, they have a tough protective mesh screen covering the cones. I've inadvertently dragged the seat rails across it, and only scratched the surface of it. Mine cost about $80.00, and were 2 ways, not 3 ways as shown in this model listed.
I'm not sure of the model number but this model number is very similar to it.
