Remove the cable from the truck. Run some penetrating oil through the sleeve and clean out as much grime as you can. Then re-install the cable after cleaning and lubricating it. FME once the bouncing starts, the cable doesn't last much longer. Others may have had better luck. If the cable is damaged, you can get a replacement at the local auto parts store. I believe I paid around $8.00 at napa for the last one I bought.

I've used Lubriplate 105 for the last 40 years or so, and most of that was on heavy-duty trucks that go millions of miles.

It's always worked fantastic for me in the past, and I still continue to use it.

Pull the core out of the housing and grease it up well as you reinsert it.

Buy DC speedocable for $20 and your finish with problem. My came fully lubed, I added some just to be sure. I had bought one from LMC, a piece of crap, broke after only a few miles, changed inner cable, added lube and it still bounced like crazy.

I bought a DC cable for mine when I did the tranny swap, and it had no lube on the core at all...

from what i have been told. the new cables originally didnt have any grease in them. because the grease over the years could get hard and make the speedo cable freeze up. graphite is a dry slick power that lubes without a liquid to get hard and freeze up is why it is used . if you have dust and rust inside of the cable grease may work for awhile.
