Headlight Switch removal

Post by 68FORDJBM »

I managed to unplug the switch and get it lose from the dash but I can seem to remove the push rod/knob. Is it just a press fit? I don't want to force it loose and break off the knob. Please advise?

I hope once I get the push rod and knob loose it will be a pretty straight forward re-install.

Thanks in advance!

I had the same question a couple of weeks ago. On the top of the switch, there is a button. Push the button and pull. The rod and knob will come out with the button depressed.

does anyone else find it hard on your fongers to push that button down? i am getting to where i use the tip of a flat blade screwdriver to protect my finger when pushing down on that button. they always seem tough to push down for me. even with the cluster out.

It was no finger massage. I noticed that it was easier when I pushed the rod in and twisted while pushing the button down.
