F600 cluster made to work with 80-90's wiring?

Post by Spectre »

Has anyone made an F600 cluster work with newer style wiring?

69 F250 with a 87 Fuel injected engine and wiring harness

I have all the wiring from a late 80's F-Series installed in my bump. It all functions.. Engine starts up and all gauges read fine with my 80's F-series cluster. Well I was going to just take the F600 cluster and replace it all with auto meter gauges, but am now wondering if I can make all the factory gauges work with the 80's cluster..

Logically it should just be "hook all the wires into the right places, but I'm wondering about the ALT gauge.. It shows charge and discharge.. Will I have to replace that one regardless?

Hope that makes sense.. Or am I on my own to try and make it work? :?

the newer truck LN9000 have the plug similar to the 73-79 trucks and the 70-72. and it uses a circut board too. if that is what you are askign. so you can get the whole rear part and use that with your F600 Bezel. it might be a plug and play thing. i dont know what size the plugs are in the LN9000 or the 80's trucks. but i know they are the same type of plug.

I think I more want to know if the fuel, temp, oil gauges would work with my newer senders..

I guess I need to know the ratings of the gauges to match them with what came in the bronco to see if they will work.. If that makes sense..

two things you can check out. you can see if the older senders for a 302 will fit and work on your 5.0. i bet they will. the other thing yo ucould do is ask the parts store the ratigns of the senders for the 5.0 newer engine.

Thanks for the answers guys..

I know I have to change the ammeter to a volt meter, but that shouldn't be to bad. I do want to add a light into the mix on the 600 cluster.. I'd like to have a "check engine light" So if there is an issue I'll see it.. That's easy enough to do.. So now I just have to get my wiring diagrams back out and get everything all wired correctly..

yay! lol..
