Repo Dash Pads

Post by goody »

Has anyone bought the Reproduction Dash Pads that are available? They are a little pricey (400) but I am mostly concerned about how they fit, and whether they will last. Anyone have experience with these?

Hi, Thanks for the reply. I looked at J.C. Whitney website and all I could find were the Dash Toppers, not the actual pads. /maybe they dont carry them anymore.

Watch ebay for a week or two. Normally you don't see many of these but for what ever reason there was at least 5 on there last week. Some were used - described as very good to excellent, some were patched and dyed, and at least one was original new old stock. They sold for between 100.00 and 305.00. I bought one for 100.00 plus 45.00 shipping from Washington state to North Carolina. It arrived Friday and I was really pleased, much better than I expected.

I'm speaking of used ones of course, not repos.

Thats not the pad that is just a cover that goes over the pad.

Goody, who ever you buy a dash from i would check to see if its made from origanal tooling because if you buy a aftermarket dashpad and it dont fit right youll have to look at it everytime you drive down the road. dennis-carpenter.com sells dash pads for $370 but they dont say if its original tooling or not, a old book ive got says it is but the new book dosent say :dk:

Thanks guys for the replies. I havent found anyone who claims their pad is from Original tooling. The Dash Toppers for $89 are not the answer. I think I will try ebay for a NOS one as jnewton suggested. Thank you.

Have you contacted DC to ask if theirs uses the same tooling?

Goody - Check ebay item #300468556504 just went on. You might know it is here in N.C. after I had one shipped clear across the country.

JC Whitney still has 'em... http://www.jcwhitney.com/ford-truck-vin ... 343y1970j1 but they've gone up since last time I looked. They used to be under $300 and I swear I looked a month or two ago and they must have been having a sale cuz it was under $200. Now they're $450!
