Frame wiring same from 2wd to 4wd?

Post by 1971ford »

Would the wiring that runs down the frame on a 1969 2wd f100 with FE and automatic be the same as the frame wiring on a '72 f250 4x4 with a manual 4spd?

Thanks

Not exactly. The '69 won't have rear side marker lights, the '72 will...so the '72 will have provisions for those lights. Otherwise they should be the same.

Won't that just be a branch off both sides of the rearmost harness across the back?

Mike that is what I thought at first.

I am just talking about the frame wiring itself, the bed wiring plugs into the frame wiring and is a seperate harness that has the marker lights. I have the '72 frame wiring hooked up to my '69 bed wiring so no market light wiring anyways.

But I think maybe what Keith was saying was that the marker lights have to get a seperate power source at the cab end of the wiring?
But I think the markers get the power from the brake light wiring? Maybe? kinda? A little? :D

that is right. the tail light harness fo rthe 67-69 beds do not interchange with the 70-72 beds. because of the marker lights. but from the firewall to the tail light harness all styleside bed harnesses are the same. except camper special. and then considereding long beds vs short beds.

Craig's right. There is a brown feed wire for the taillights in the main frame harness and they add extra branch wires in the tail light harness for the side lights.
