Help identify this dash pad?
So I have a 1968 f100. The truck is all original and the blue dash pad is in very good conditions but is cracked around the speaker grill. I saw this NOS pad on ebay and purchased it for quite a bit less (although still far too expensive) than his $699 asking price. Here's the question....it was advertised as fitting a 67-72 f100. After buying it I noticed that the speaker grill is not a single rectangular grill like mine but actually has two grill sections side by side. Can any of you identify 1) what year this grill originally was made for and 2) if not a 68, will it likely fit my '68?

Those two squares with a grille are the defroster vents. The radio speaker grille is the collection of small holes in-between. You have the correct piece. I've never seen anything else.

Re: Help identify this dash pad?
Thanks for the reply. I guess I was not clear. Im aware that the two vents are defroster vents. I was talking about the radio grill. If you look closely the radio grill on this NOS pad has an area with the grill holes but also has vertical sections of vinyl with no holes. My current pad has a large rectangular grill but the whole area has the grill holes. There are no vertical sections dividing the radio grill like on this one. Makes me think this one may fit my dash but was made for a model later than 68? I'll try to take a picture of my radio grill tomorrow.FORDification wrote:Those two squares with a grille are the defroster vents. I'm pretty new at this, but my guess it is just a repro, and that it will fit anyway...

Thanks for the reply. I'm pretty sure that it is NOS FORD product as the seller also included a pick of the Ford label on the box. The part number and other details of the label were hard to read though. I could read "Med Blue Truck".catinahat wrote:I'm pretty new at this, but my guess it is just a repro, and that it will fit anyway...

Re: Help identify this dash pad?
what it may be is a ford part but was a later made product with a improvment of the speaker area. i have heard of this speaker grille division bar being made into some dash pads once before. when you get it. take a picture fo the speaker grille area so that we can all see it and have the picture for future reference.
i have also heard i think that some of the aftermarket dash pads or maybe it was covers that didnt have the provision for the in dash speaker hole. i cant remember which now. but one of them didn't have it.

Thanks. I will take a better pic when I get the pad and will also take a pic of my original pad so we can compare.fordman wrote:what it may be is a ford part but was a later made product with a improvment of the speaker area. i have heard of this speaker grille division bar being made into some dash pads once before. when you get it. take a picture fo the speaker grille area so that we can all see it and have the picture for future reference.

I think you may be right about it being an improved version of the dash-pad as far as the speaker grille goes. I know that on my '71, the '67 and the few bumps I've came across in the junkyard no matter how good a shape the dash-pad itself is in it seems like the speaker grilles are always buckled/warped up and cracking whether or not the rest of the dash-pad is perfect. If Ford recognized that problem back in the day and made a newer version of it back then then that was mighty smart of themfordman wrote:what it may be is a ford part but was a later made product with a improvment of the speaker area. i have heard of this speaker grille division bar being made into some dash pads once before. when you get it. take a picture fo the speaker grille area so that we can all see it and have the picture for future reference.

Ah...that does make sense. Again, I'll send pics of both when the new one arrives.Caseys71 wrote:I think you may be right about it being an improved version of the dash-pad as far as the speaker grille goes.
