column bearing
i am replacing the bearings and other parts on my steering column.When i disassembled the column i noticed that the lower column bearing fell out and hit the floor.What i like to know does this lower bearing get pressed in.Thanks

no it doesnt get pressed in. it is held in place by one of two methods depending on the year of the column. the 67-69 column shaft has a clamp that slides up to hold the bearign and shaft adjustment in place. the 70-72 has a collar that does the same thing. it holds the bearing in place when the column is adjusted to the right place.

you can see it above the shift arms on this old picutre. it is just asteel band the botls together where it meets up.
