Instrument Cluster

Post by impappy »

Does anyone know if the any of the guage bezels out of a 65-69 Mustang willfit into the dash of a bump? I seem to remember a lot of the brake parts and the interior switches were the same on my 68 Mustang as they were ont the bumps. I may be wrong though.

Thanks for the reply fordman. Still it might be a cool mod. I will have to do more research.

The mounting will be the only major issue. All Ford gauges except for the ammeter operate on the same system so as long as the cluster you buy has the same type gauges you already have you can use your existing wiring and senders. The ammeters changed in 65 and early cars have a wire through gauge and later ones have a two wire style with mounting posts. I used a full set of Mustang gauges in a 47 Lincoln and just reused the Lincoln faces (Ford has never changed them! LOL). The 40's and 60's even operate on the same voltage but the newer ones use a instrument cluster voltage regulator and they operate on 6 volts but the old ones don't use a regulator and just run on direct 6 volts from the charging system!
