bump am/fm radio
How much should I expect to pay for an am/fm radio for a bump?

Re: bump am/fm radio
as little as possible. do you mean a factory raido or a aftermarket one. i have seen real factory am/fm radios go for over 100.00 or more on ebay. you can probably pickup a aftermarket one for 25.00. you may also be able to get a 73-79 radio that might fit. for less than 100.00 on ebay.

I bought my 1972 factory am/fm radio for $200. I think i got a good deal on it, not to many bumps come with am/fm radios in them.

I've seen them go for close to $300 bucks on ebay. Depends on how bad you want it.
I picked up this factory-ish looking 8 track for $25 bucks from a member here. (Dont recall who?)

I have been looking myself and I can not say they are falling out of trees. Just keep searching. I am budgeting up to $200 myself

I've got that same radio, but the 8-track didn't work so I never put it in...I thought it was a "Realistic", but the stamp on it says "automatic radio"...If you look closely, the Ford radio plate had to be notched at the top and bottom for that radio to fit...When I dug mine out of the boneyard, I took the radio plate with it so I wouldn't screw mine up...
Oops....I meant you had to notch the Ford faceplate from side to side...

got mine for $250 off ebay - and was glad to get it at that price - I've been told they can go upwards of $500
It works - but poorly. Wound up putting an aftermarket Pioneer in the glovebox.

Re: bump am/fm radio
I bought an original from a 72 for $250 on ebay. Once they are posted, it seems everyone else that has a bump decided that very same day had the same intentions that I did!!
It works and looks great but the factory unit (without the slider bar below the buttons) are not easy to find. Also, IF you have factory AC like mine, be prepared for a very time consuming installation since everything has to come out and go through the glove box opening. Mine was a bear to install.

Congrats on the find. Not sure of this, but, if you have one of the units with a slider below the buttons, I don't think it was original to a 72 truck. I believe those were in Torinos/Cougars/LTD's, etc. I bought/have one of them too - after I got it I found out it did not come in the pickups.Mach428 wrote:I bought an original from a 72 for $250 on ebay. My uncle bought a 72 new with am/fm and it had the slide bar over the buttons.

Re: bump am/fm radio
Mine doesn't have the slider. It looks just like Phil105. I was even prepared to spend more money to have it repaired if need be but it worked just fine. Sellers are smart and typically know what they have and what it's worth. These radios are very hard to find so if you see one and you REALLY want it - you have to be prepared to pay big bucks
