rocker,lifter tap i6 300
got a 1979 300 6 in the 68,and have a constant tapping a the #3 cyl.was going to remove valve cover, and see if it is a rocker possibly what is the proper procedure for doing this,and what are the torque specs?

If you have the adjustable rocker arms you tighten until it just stops clicking and then give it about another half to three quarters of a turn. If it has a bad lifter this will make it miss as there is no oil cushion in the lifter and it will be holding the valve open. If you have the zero lash style just tighten the nut until it bottoms out I think. Check for bent pushrods.
BTW you have very good selective hearing if you can't tell which cylinder it is on.
