Yeah so I probably didn't list it correctly.
I have a 68 F100 that the PO told me that the "cog wheel" had been replaced in the steering column. The problem I run into is that the reverse lights do not come on when I put it in Reverse. They will come on if I sit there and fijite (sp?) with it and that is a pain.
I could mount some fog lights as reverse lights like I did with my Ranger and F150,but I don't want to do that on this 'ole classic.
Any help (pictures) would help a lot and thank you all in advance.

Re: How to adjust a C6 column
Could be a faulty NSS switch or it could just be out of adjustment. Located on the top of the steering column tube, down by the pedals. Does the trans start in park and neutral without wiggling the shifter? Loosen the two screws that hold the NSS to the column and the switch will move to the left and right. With the parking brake on and the shift selector in park, adjust the switch so that the engine starts without touching the shift selector. Back-up lights should work afterwards.

Re: How to adjust a C6 column
the reverse lights are turned on via the nss switch on the bottom of the column. it is probably dirty. or slightly out of adjustment. you can adjust the nss by loosening the two 5/16 headed screws that hold the nss in place. and then sliding the nss. towards the passenger side so that it sits right up against the tang sticking out of the column. dont press it real hard up against the tang because you can go too far with it. and it wont start up without fiddling with the shifter to slightly take it out of park to start the truck. my bet if you can fiddle with it a little then it may be just dirty. you can remove it from the column and clean the wire inside of the nss. you will see what i mean when you get a look at it.

Re: How to adjust a C6 column
I just saw the left replies about my question so I thought that I would leave a few comments.
The truck starts fine in park without me having to figget with the shifter. There is very slight play in the shifter, but not enough to make it not start in Park.
It used to be that I could figget with the gear shift when it was in Reverse and the lights would come on for a second and then they would go out. I know that the problem is not with the lights because all of that is good.
I read someone's comments that said I may have to adjust the NSS. Do I have to take the steering column apart to get to the NSS? Or is it somewhere else on the column? Does anyone have any pictures of this or what I have to adjust? Pictures always seem to help.
Thank you guys again!!!!

Re: How to adjust a C6 column
the nss is on top of the column inside the cab on the column near the firewall. you dont have to remove the column. it takes a 1/4 drive ratchet and a 5/16 socket to loosen the two bolts.
