Custom Full Length Carpeted Floormat?

Post by BobbyFord »

Lloyd Mats ( http://www.lloydmats.com/about.htm ) is on one of my routes, I will be there today. The last time I was there, I talked to one of the head guys there that told me to bring my truck by and he would give me a pattern for the seperate two piece mats so that I could fit them and mark them for any trimming that might be necessary for a more custom fit. That got me thinking; I have a couple of NOS, D9TZ full length rubber mats in the box. I'm sure that if I took one of them over for them to copy and pattern for the autoCAD machine, that he would make some full length carpet mats for our trucks. This way these could be had in any color and probably be made with the driver side heel pad built in.
Not sure how much they would cost. I do know that they have several "grades" of floormats with regard to thickness and material. Because they also custom embroider their mats (with manufacturer logos, owner names, etc.), I think they may also be able to put "FORDification" on the floormats (if that's alright by Keith).
I wonder how many forum members would be interested in having a full length carpet mat? These mats fit in automatic or manual trans trucks with no modofications. There are a couple of pics of the stock rubber floormat at the bottom of this thread...> http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... 09#p503809

Good morning Bobby,

That's a really cool idea, especially with a FORDification logo on there!

I think I'll stick with a rubber mat for #50, but I'll still be curious to see how your carpet idea works out.

let us know how it works out - I will subscribe to this post for updates
thanks

That is alright Bobby. I get sidetracked so often that I'm starting to resemble a Boxcar. Your idea does sound good.

I'd like one with the gear and lightning bolt logo, if possible.

When I leave home tomorrow, I will have the NOS D9TZ-A mat with me and I'm gonna see what the man says. It's a state-of-the-art facility with all of the top computerized equipment. I'm optimistic.

Went in there today and talked to a couple of the guys (the guy I need to talk to wasn't there), they said it will be no problem to use my rubber mat for a pattern to create a carpet version. I told them they could add it to their catalog, they agreed. When done it should fit cabs from '61 to at least '79. I have to go back Monday and see the main man.

OK, I just came from Lloyd Mats. It seems that this isn't going to be as easy as I thought, but it's still do-able.
Lloyd Mats does not sell to the public, they only sell wholesale. Several online and catalog vendors, like JC Whitney already carry Lloyd mats but I'd rather find a Ford-only vendor that is willing to carry these one-piece mats, if I get them made. I will email Blue Oval Truck Parts (because they are a local SoCal based vendor) today and see if they are willing to offer these mats if I get them made.
Lloyd Mats already sells two-piece mats for our trucks in several different quality levels and just about any color. If you are interested just go to their website ( http://www.lloydmats.com/ ) and click on the "where to buy" link. I looked at the different quality levels and materials available and these mats are the best quality I've ever seen. Several logos to choose from, like the scripted Ford logo, Ford Racing, etc.
I'm going to let them use my C6, high hump truck as a test pattern vehicle and I may need someone locally with a low hump truck that is willing to participate as a test vehicle. What floor pan dimensions are similar to my high hump truck; 65-72 or 65-79? :hmm:
I need to do some research.
