Phantom Squeak

Me and my son were out yesterday in my truck, I kept hearing this squeaking noise from the left hand side of the dash. I couldn't stop it by putting my hand or pressure on it, so I'm figuring it must be something underneath. Of course in an all steel cab, it could be coming from the door and just sound like it's coming from somewhere else. Has anyone had this experience? I was on the highway when I heard it most. It wasn't constant, just when I'd hit a rough patch or something. Thanks - Donnie

Have you checked your cab mounts?

I haven't checked them recently. Though that is as good a place to start as any, I suppose. When I bought the truck in November, they were solid.

could be the fender squeaking,there's a bolt inside the door pillar that is a P.I.T.A. to get too that often times (at least in the trucks i've had) either :rusts & breaks off , jams in the body nut when body work is done and won't tighten,or gets left out because -its a pain to get to
there's also a bolt down at the bottom of the fender,the metal around which can rust away and let the fender move around just enought o get annoying...
the instrument cluster and dashpad can sometimes squeak a bit too if the screws (or nuts for the dashpad) aren't snug

You'd have to describe the squeak to get more helpful suggestions. Does it only appear when you hit a bump, or is it mostly all the time? Does it change with engine RPM or vehicle speed?

No change with rpm. Mostly with bumps. I'll check the suggested things, and see what I can find. Thank you all!
