Split Bench in my '69 - whats it from?

Post by alvald83 »

I was just wondering if someone could identify a great seat that i picked out of a '68 f100 at the local picknpull (for $50). Someone had spent money on replacing the foam and covering it with a nice quality cover. My original plan was to redo my original Ranger seat in black, but i couldnt pass this up. As it turns out, i love the color and the comfort.
Back to my question. A friend of mine wants to find the same seat, but im not sure what it originally came out of.

The covering is wrong but the seat is screaming PONCHO at me... like '67 Tempest..

But, if it was gnarly plasti-tweed in that basic layout I'd say... '67 Falcon, which keeps it in the Ford family and makes sense...

Hard to say for sure but it looks like a SuperCab seat. They came out in 73 and will fit a regular cab if you use the original mounts from the regular cab (SuperCabs have different floors so the tracks are different). Hawkrod

WOW, heck of a score. I really like it. My seat is shot, I may have to look for one like that.
Again, looks real good and nicely redone.

Are there any holes on the tops for a head rest you can feel through the covering? Looks like a 73 up Supercab to me also.
Looks very nice in your truck

I actually think it came from a stocker one like this model of Ford that I used to own:

I kept my original seat from it for years after I got rid or the Chero' hoping to help someone else out. Can't seem to find a decent picture of the stock seat in one though...

It definitely didn't come from something like that. The seats in those things are nowhere near wide enough. I will keep my money on a stock truck seat from a SuperCab because the width is right and it is a bolt in swap but even if I am wrong about it being a Supercab seat, I am sure it isn't from a Falcon or Fairlane based small car like your picture. Yeah I'd forgotten about the major width difference there. Just remembered my Chero's seat being splint in the center like that-and the brackets on the side looked similar.
