C6 help?
I have a 67 F100 with a 352 motor and 3speed in floor. original of course was on column and I'm not exactly sure about motor ,it could be a 390. Still under investigation but anyway I want to install a C6 auto that came out of a 68 torino,390. Any of you guys know what challenges I may run into, Thanks

Re: C6 help?
You will need an automatic steering column or one of those cool Locker (sp?) floor shifters, radiator with clean fluid cooling chamber, lines for fluid to radiator, correct linkage on carb to hook to "kick down" rod, correct rear gears, and the drive shaft yoke might be different. Easiest way to make the swap is to pull the engine unless you have a way to lift that C6 into place. Plus you have to remove the front frame cross member with the engine in and that is a pain. I would compare the length of the C6 and your current setup to see if your drive shaft will work. Oh, in my experience, make a list and calculate time and materials and multiply by at least two for a decent idea of what you are getting into. Where do you live? I may have some of they parts you will need.
Have fun with the project. I love my C6.

I do plan to use a floor shifter as I think that will make this job a little less stressful and I am pulling motor to do a rebuild. You mentions the rear gear, I'm not sure what you mean by that.

Re: C6 help?
Seems like most vehicles with automatics run "taller" gears. My 72 F250 has 3:54 (or there abouts) rear gears. I would expect a stick shift to have closer to 4:11 gears. I believe this is because of the slippage in an automatic at all speeds, unless it has a lock up converter and a C6 does not. You can always run an automatic with higher numeric gears (I always call 4:56 gears low, some refer to them as high because they are numerically higher) but your RPM's will be greater and especially noticeable at highway speeds. However, your acceleration off the line will be great.

Re: C6 help?
Thanks Kurt,
I did wonder about rpms being different but I really don't do much highway riding anyway in fact just trips to lowes occasionally or hauling something .I bought a it a few yrs ago when I was remodeling my house. It set in a field for 10+ yrs waiting on someone to save it so now that my house is finished to show my appreciation Im gonna try and make-er look good again. And thanks for the offer on parts but here in NC and upstate SC we have lots of what we call "junk yards" where finding truck parts usually not a problem......we got us some trucks here in the South
