I'll join the crowd asking for help identifying my rear end. (no puns please)
There is no tag so I'm looking at the codes stamped on the axle tube.
11 18 80 A1, so it's a late 1980.
603943-6
Looking it up I get 603943 FORD 60 REAR 1980-81 F-250 3/4 TON 4X2, 4X4 PICK-UP - SEMI FLOAT
what about the -6? what ratio is it?

Re: Another Dana 60 ID
Yeah already did, it's a 1980 though so not in there. The dentside site doesn't list it either.
I'll probably just have to take the cover off and try and get the ring gear turned til I can see the ratio on it.

Go here and enter your "bill of materials" number 603943-6 into the search box. The site will list all of the parts kits available for the axle.
http://www2.dana.com/expertforms/departid.aspx
Enter the number here and it will tell you info about the axle.

All the charts are fine & dandy, IF you are sure that the rear has never been changed.....some of these trucks are 40 years old...& have had their rear updated. Just look at the questions on this forum........How to get better mileage, more power, bla, bla, bla.......Make sense..Donnie
