As I'm removing the engine/trans from my '67 F250 I realize that the engine coolant is 'piped' to the transmission(MX behind FE 352) rather than the transmission fluid being 'piped' to the radiator. It appears there is a small heat exchanger on the passenger side of the transmission with coolant piped to it.
Was this common or is this an oddball - possibly aftermarket?? The radiator has plugs in the fittings where normal transmission lines would go to but I can't tell if they are factory. This is a camper special also......

Re: coolant cooled MX transmission
Halfway common on Fords and very common on Internationals.

Re: coolant cooled MX transmission
Hi, it's interesting to hear your question on this unit. I bought one from a Ford dealer in the late 60's for a motorhome project that we were working on...Oddly enough , I still have it, in the original shipping crate, as it was shipped to me those many years ago...It has never been out of the original box, is still capped & kept in my storage area, off in the corner surrounded by many years of other items that I bought & never used.
Very interesting to see your question....WANNA BUY IT ? ..................Donnie
