Can I put a 3/4 ton rear end on a 71 f100?

Post by kcpat10 »

Getting my 71 F100 ready to pull a 24' travel trailer. Have a new 302 already. Going to put a sm block C6 on it. Can I...should I put a 3/4 ton rear end on it? Any advice on upgrades are welcome.

You can upgrade to 3/4 spring or just add a leaf or two. There really isnt a reason to change rear ends. The 9 in. is a tough axel.

Same engine/tranny combo I've got in my one ton and loving it. The 9" is pretty bulletproof like Casey said. The chebby guys throw 500+ ponies at them all day at drag strips. Gotta' also remember you'd have two different wheel bolt patterns. :(
