Rattled...
Does anyone know if it's possible to replace/install the clutch fork anti-rattle spring with the trans/bell still bolted to the engine? It's an FE (truck) bellhousing and the pressure plate is the factory 3-lever (Long) Ford style. I sure hope I don't have to drop the trans just for this.

Anything is possible, I think you would have the best luck sliding the tranny back.
Go to HD, get some 7/16 x 6" bolts, and ONE AT A TIME replace the bell housing to engine bolts.
Pull the driveshaft, disconnect the linkage, remove the tranny mount.
You shoud lbe able to slide the tranny back a few inches to allow you access to replace the retainer withoug having to drop the whole thing...
Slide it forward, replace the bolts (one at a time) and put everything back...
Not the solution you were looking for I am sure, but it isn't as bad as it could be...

Re: Rattled...
yeah it would be best to slide the trans back. I know on the 4x4s you can leave it on the crossmember and slide the whole deal back still in the truck. then you can reach in there and do what you gotta do.
