C6 differences
Looking at an FE with a C6 attached to it. Question is, the C6 on my current is shorter than the one I'm looking at and it has a yoke on the end as the new one has a spline coming from it. Why the difference between the two?

Re: C6 differences
Because they were made for different applications.hotrod ford wrote:Looking at an FE with a C6 attached to it. Question is, the C6 on my current is shorter than the one I'm looking at and it has a yoke on the end as the new one has a spline coming from it. Why the difference between the two?

The short C6 with the yoke is meant for trucks. The long C6 with the spline tailshaft is meant for cars. You can use either one for either application; you may have to change the drive shaft though. If changing the driveshaft is not an option you can also tear it apart and replace the tail housing with whichever version you need, ie. long to short for a truck.

Thanks for the info mrolling53. I tried to find the info on line but with no luck. You said this was a car transmission, but it was instlled in a truck. I thinking it may have been in a longbed.mrollings53 wrote:The short C6 with the yoke is meant for trucks. The long C6 with the spline tailshaft is meant for cars.
