F100 Clutch Adjustment

Post by 70_F100_Custom »

Have a 1970 F100, 240 CID, Tremec 3 speed. Looking for some information or tech articles on how to adjust the clutch. Any takers?

There's only one adjustment that I know of. It's the clutch release rod, number 7521 at the bottom center of this page http://www.fordification.com/tech/image ... pedals.jpg Back off the jam nut and tighten/loosen the adjusting nut to push forward/backward the "bullet" sleeve to move the clutch lever tighter/looser on the throwout bearing. Then tighten the jam nut back down to hold in place. Measure the amount of free play in the clutch pedal to gauge how much you've tightened/loosened it. The rest is, pretty much, by feel.

Good morning 70_F100_Custom,

I think Randy's advice is practical and accurate. Here are a couple of other threads that might interest you:

Clutch adjustment: 1-1.5" of pedal play or 1/8" fork play?
Short clutch release rod: how can I find/make a longer one?
