Post by JPC1972 »

Can anyone tell me what this piece is called and maybe how I can get it if it is needed? My Tranny is a C6

It looks like mine. You need the type of speedo cable that plugs into the trans (with the speedo driven gear attached) as opposed to the screw-in type. I've seen two types of extension housings on the short rear shaft trans: One has the speedo cable connecting with a screw-in type cable on the passenger side of the trans, with the speedo driven gear attached to a plug that stays with the trans when the cable is unscrewed and the other has a plug-in style speedo cable on the driver side of the trans where the speedo driven gear is clipped on to the end of the speedo cable and plugs into the extension housing and is secured with a cable-attached bracket and a 1/4-20 bolt.

I've found that a digital camera (even a real cheap one) is invaluable to have when removing stuff. I never know what's going to interrupt my project days, and how long it will be before I get back to it.
