C6 Shifting
On a '72 C6 with stock 390, when should the shifting occur? at approximately what speeds?

Re: C6 Shifting
Hi , there are many factors that are involved in getting an answer to your question. such as , the engine vacuum, the throttle position, the rear end ratio, the tire size....the basic concept is: the harder you throttle it the later the shifts........I would guess in a "normal" drive away you should see shifts in the 15-20---------and 30-35 mph range,,,,,,,,,,but this is all relative to the above information.......

No I am not having a problem shifting. I just wanted to see if what I am experiencing is normal. It sounds by how yours does that it is.Donnie wrote:Hi , there are many factors that are involved in getting an answer to your question. such as , the engine vacuum, the throttle position, the rear end ratio, the tire size....the basic concept is: the harder you throttle it the later the shifts........I would guess in a "normal" drive away you should see shifts in the 15-20---------and 30-35 mph range,,,,,,,,,,but this is all relative to the above information.......

Re: C6 Shifting
I have also found that it depends on the outside temp (and, therefore, the temp of the engine and tranny). The colder it is, the later the shift. At least, that has been my experience.
