1968f100 clutch pedal won't disengage
i have little to no experience servicing anything clutch related. my 1968 f100 will not disengage once i have pushed it to the floor, it just stays in its engaged position down by the floor. furthermore, when i engage the clutch it feels as though there is little to no resistance in the pedal, almost as if the pedal were not connected to anything. it surely is connected as far as i can tell. there doesnt appear to be any missing springs below the floor and no missing springs on the clutch pedal rod above the floor. the truck will start in whatever gear i have forced the stick into and even move forward but to shift gears is not possible until i force the stick into another gear. im at a loss and not really sure where to start my troubleshooting efforts. to anyone who may be able to help your input would be greatly appreciated. my truck is a 1968 F100, 4speed trans and 360 engine. if anyone has a diagram of the clutch pedal to clutch assembly or can direct me to one that would also help quite a bit.

Did this happen suddenly or has it been like this, gradually getting worse, for a long time?

Get a helper and have them work the clutch pedal while you watch from underneath. Look at this diagram http://www.fordification.com/tech/image ... pedals.jpg The bell crank/z-bar mechanism (between the engine and the frame) is what turns the downward motion of the pedal to the rearward motion of the clutch fork. The only spring that brings the pedal back up is one from the clutch rod pivot to a front crossmember or hole in the frame. If everything is connected then the spring is not pulling the clutch rod pivot back. If the spring is there and functional, the problem may be in your clutch fork pivot. My clutch fork pivot bracket inside the bell housing was broken. Here's how I fixed that http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... ot#p387682 (thanks Robroy!)
