Re: Firewall cover
They are held in by the brackets of the parts that are bolted to the firewall on top of them and by plastic round head serrated "rivets" just pushed through them into holes in the firewall. Unfortunately, those "rivets" are rarely reusable and often are destroyed taking them out. You should be able to gently lift up that section and peel back the carpet (if you have any) and get to the bolts holding the pedal in place. Worse case clip the end off the plastic rivet, inside the engine compartment, to gain some slack and then try to get some replacements or use washers and sheet metal screws to hold it back down. Don't know for sure, I totally destroyed mine getting it out and will have to buy a new one.

Re: Firewall cover
In that case I guess I will take a sharp knife and cut around the gas pedal bracket and remove only that small piece. After I swap pedals I will glue the piece I cut back on... Worse case leave that small piece off and only the bracket will be noticeable.sargentrs wrote:They are held in by the brackets of the parts that are bolted to the firewall on top of them and by plastic round head serrated "rivets" just pushed through them into holes in the firewall.
