Bench seat

Post by JTW_Jr »

My 72 had bucket seats from a camaro in it when I bought it, they felt comfy, installation was clean ( he made his own brackets that required new holes)....but when I go out I like to take my two youngest sons with me (oldest is off at college).

Friend gave me a bench seat from a 69 f100, compete with factory brackets, installed it today.

What I notice is when sitting directly in front of the steering wheel, I am darn near off the edge of the seat.
If I sit to where I am comfy, I am a bit to the right of the steering wheel. I am not a large guy at 6' and 200#, but even my butt is almost off the edge.

Are newer ( up to 96 ) bench seats any wider width wise ?

I mainly wanted the factory brackets to add a new model seat, so I don't mid hitting the junkyard, just didn't want to make the trip if all seats are the same width.

I did take advantage of the time and scrub the floor, touch up some light surface rust with primer & paint and install dynamat. :D
