Same size tires on 4wd.

Has anyone actually measures the circumference or their tires to make sure they are all 4 the same size? On top of that what is an acceptable difference? I checked mine today and from smallest to largest is 1 1/2 inches.

If you're driving on a hard surface in 4wd you "should" have the same make ,size and wheel width on all 4
Drifferent brands can have different circumfrence. and a wider rim will shorten a tire.

If you're going through loose stuff it's not as critical .
for road travel you'll want the same tires on each axle.

If you have the wrong combination you will really notice it on dry pavement , because it won't roll very good.

I always tried to get the best match side to side, and if there is a bad mismatch, put it on the front, cause it's only pulling when it is expected to spin some.

All 4 tires bought at the same time, stock rims, rotated on a regular basis, tire pressure the same and the diameter was checked when the tires were off the truck. I did not experience the "chugging" (as I call it) when driving on dry pavement in 4wd as a result of the tires not being the same size or under inflated. Is 1 1/2 inch or more acceptable?

Good point on it pulling.

I was thinking of putting the oversize tire on the pass side rear since it starts to spin first. BUT then again if its larger I guess the drivers side would spin first

If you put mismatched tires on one axle you can burn up your pinion gears.

It'll think you're always turning around a corner.
