New towing torque converter in C6?
I pulled the engine and transmission out of my 1968 F100 Ranger. Original issue was a worn out flexplate/starter spline. Also needed to replace the freeze plugs. Replacing some other parts while it's out: water pump, power steering etc. (Note- not original engine '67 block and '69 heads, all indications point to a 360 or possibly 390 V8) Now I'm thinking about putting in a new torque converter for a couple reasons, the studs on the old converter are pretty rough and the truck was a bit jumpy when shifting into gear. A friend recommended upgrading to a "towing" torque converter. Any thoughts on this swap would be greatly appreciated. Also, what makers offer the best value for these parts. (I won't be towing with this truck, just driving around town) Thanks

I put this one in my 71 CS: http://www.oregonperformancetransmissio ... RE-F600-23
Its a 1250-1300 stall. I like the difference. I paid 259 for mine. Apparently they've gone up. Check their eBay listings, they were cheaper who I bought.
The 360 and 390 have their torque low in the RPMs. I think factory stall is around 1600. I can still see a low stall mated with a 360 even if not towing.
