More on Clearance Lights
I have a 70 F100 Custom Shortbox. I don't think it is a camper special, but it had clearance lights at one time. Someone took the lights off and now all that is left is the brackets. Were these an after market "add-on"? How would I go about taking them off and filling in the holes so it doesn't leak?
Thanks,
-LAnce

A closer pic of one would help. You might be able to get the lenses from a truck shop if that are the ordinary type.

re: More on Clearance Lights
definitely a closer or larger pic- i say aftermarket add-on- law only required them on 1 ton and up- in most states-jd
as for hole repair - lots of methods - depends on hole size - i have used the ballpeen & penny & bondo method or if u have a wire welder stitch them closed(recommended) then bondo, sand & paint

I'd drop into a few bodyshops and see what they'd charge to weld 'em up. Then do the smoothing with some good bondo, or ... let the body shop do the whole job. Looks like it would be worth it for your truck

That looks like the base for the kind of lights International and Pete used for some time. They're still available, I'd replace them if it were me, I think clearance lights look good on pickups.

re: More on Clearance Lights
Actually, that style of light was commonly used on late 60's to pre-1982 (A model conventional) Kenworth fenders, as a park light (Pete had a different style), and International and Dodge used them as a clearance light on their medium and some heavy trucks. They are no longer made, and are becoming a bit tough to come by. I've seen them on eBay going for big bucks, then the next week a bunch go for nothing...go figure . Your best bet would be to head to a salvage yard that has some older trucks and see if there's a set out there.. I kinda like the looks of them! This is what they look like on a Kenworth...

Yep, those are the ones I had in mind, but they are still available. Our local Navistar dealer has them and I believe they are listed in the Truck Lite book. (I'd have to look this up at work, I have two books there, Truck Lite and something I can't recall right now, but I believe it's the Truck Lite I saw them in.)

re: More on Clearance Lights
We haven't been able to get them new for quite some time... not even through Kenworth.... but if you find a bunch of new ones, by all means let me know and I'll post a note over at ATHS.

If my failing short term memory will work tomorrow I'll look up the part number in the book at work.
