Trans or gear swap

Post by Blueford1 »

Hey All,

Im trying to figure out if I should swap to a 5 speed or go to the 3.0 gear set. Overall what would be best for fuel economy, and decent torque?

Thanks.

The 5 speed will still allow you the low end torque of your present ring and pinion versus the gear change taking that away and leaving you losing low end pulling power.
But am sure you know the 5 speed is a lot...more work than just changing a ring and pinion gear.
If i had the choice I'd drop the 5 speed in, (keeping in mind all the work involved with the clutch and it's linkage). :2cents:
