Missing Parking Brake

Post by steph1968 »

Hi All,

I just bought a '68 F250 Camper Special and it is missing the parking brake. Any recommendations on where to find one? The cables are there.

Thank you,

Stephanie

Stephanie,

I seen your other post in the welcome area. That's a nice looking truck! In case you're not already aware, Dennis Carpenter makes quite a few replacement parts for your truck with many using the original Ford tooling. Here is the link to what you're looking for, which isn't cheap.

If you're on a budget or don't want to spend that much, I would recommend getting a used one from car-part.com

Welcome and good luck!

Stephanie,

Def find your local "boneyards" as I call them as it prob won't be the first time you'll need to source a decent used part.
Most all of the foot pedal parking brake assemblies are in good shape that you'll find in boneyards, (and yes use one of many used parts "locator" search engines that'll find the part for you to save time).
My memory was trying to go back to the difference between our bump era (67-72) versus the dent era (73-79) and if they were the same or not? It's a possibility there are and if so that'll expand your search to make finding the assembly a lot easier.

Here's a list of many tech articles that will help you ID parts, (and somewhere in it there is a list of things that are similar between the bump and dent years but I can't seem to be able to find it):
