Best way to add cargo lamp switch to f100 dash?

How do you do iyt without killing the dash? and how is the wire routed? Do i need the fuseblock from the truck that has the cargo lamp? or can i splice into the perm power from the lighter?

What do you mean, 'killing the dash'? Just a hole drilled to the right of the column beside the flasher switch will mount it where the factory did it. In a factory install, there's a short wire harness for the switch with a bullet plug that joins a live female connector to the left of the column. Then the wire from the switch runs up the pillar and back to the roof light. Just find that live empty plug on the left side and use it for power.

I think the cargo lamp is on the same circut that the dome light is on and comes on when you open the doors or turn your light switch all the way bright to turn on the dome.

use a bimetal hole saw blade if you have to. or a good sharp drill bit.

My F250CS has a pull switch that is independent of the dome light. Pull it out and the cargo light comes on and a red light in the end of the switch knob comes on.

Now that I started thinking,I had a 70 model that had the switch with the light up red knob for the cargo light.

Ford had that lighted switch up til 72 and then they went to that left rear pillar mounted switch in 73. Unfortunately, it lights up the dome at the same time as the cargo light. I'm not a fan of that arrangement
