Lights flicker... I searched...

Post by CA180 »

Ok, wuick question. My headlights like to flicker on and off. And i have searched and understand that it is a common problem. And i have read what everyone says is the fix.

BUT... Something about mine that i found out is that when they start doing it, i will dim the dash lights till they are off and it will stop. I tried stomping on the high/low dimmer switch and it did nothing.

Does this mean that my headlight switch is overheating? Too much juice flowing through it? I thought it was strange that this would stop it. You guys think i should replace the switch?

I plan to upgrade the headlight harness myself. But if the switch is causing it, then wouldnt it keep doing it with the new harness/relay setup.

Thanks in advance,,,

Does the dimmer switch work? The connections get corroded on
the Light and dimmer switches. Also, theres a breaker inside the light
switch. It can make the headlights go off and on.

Yeah, i can dim the dash lights all the way up and down. And i can go from high to low beam with the foot switch just fine.

Ck. and clean all the connections at the switch/dimmer switch/any
plugs. And grounds. You have a lousy connection somewhere. Follow
the circuit and you will find it.

:yt:

If it changes behavior when you dim the dash lights, it's internal at the switch

The load pulled through the switch goes from about 8amps from the headlights to only about 30miliamps drawn from the relay's coils. Still clean and check the switch connector, but you should be good.
