Heater core bumper glue?

The heater core I bought at Napa did not have the rubber bumper. I removed the bumper from my old unit with brake cleaner. What type of glue will stick the old bumper to the new core and withstand the heat?

i just rebuilt my ac/heater unit but i dont know what your talking about when you say "rubber bumper for the core" whats that?

The heater core I removed had a rubber piece on it like the 3rd picture in the post below. The one I bought did not have one.

oh i dont have that. but i dont think im suppose to because i have a different unit thingy.

when i have done these in other trucks i have put the rubber piece in and then put the core in to hold it in place until i got it all abck together it did work. if your wanting glue maybe try weather strip adhesive.

my ne wone didn't come with one so i used gorilla glue to put the old one on but i fell off and now my core rattles.

Mine was shot so I just stacked a bunch of rubber and foam to make what you are seeing in that photo. As I recall, neither the old one nor my jury rigged replacement were glued.

How bout some Epoxy? Surely that would be strong enough to hold it??

Use pure silicone or somthing like rtv. It will stay plyable and wont be effected by heat. If you want something like the OE rubber strip, get a silicone place mat or pot holder from walmart and cut it up.

Silcone adheasive from homedepot in the caulk tube works great,,,, and no,, new cores do not come with that and some of the old trucks theses pieces have dissapeared over the yrs from PO replacing them and not installing them back in clean the part with alochol before you put the adheasive on it let it tact first then place it on let it set for a day then install it will stay on it is to keep the core from moving inside the heater housing there should be two other pieces on the sides as well if I remember correctly somebody chime in here if I wrong on this, I do belive you can get a new rubber set from bronco graveyard its listed under the broncos which is the same as ours trucks for the htrs stuff.

Not sure what the rubber is like, it's been a while since I have taken a heater apart but if the rubber is smooth you should sand it to rough it up and then clean in with alcohol and use a high temp adhesive like RTV as earlier stated.
