That is going to be one hell of a machine Ross!!! I like it!!!

I use to run a set of Dynomax Cyclone Ceramic-Coated Headers. Those go for $300 and some change. I didn't like those as well. But Hooker has a set for $419.99. Not that they are any better then what you have already but just some info for the rest of the guys here.

in theory any engine should start after sitting as long as you shoot some oil down the cylinders to lube the walls, and make sure the lifters and valves are lubed. add some fresh gas and presto. But i know how you feel. mine had sat for 5 years before i fired it up. just put new points in it and dropped some oil in the cylinders and she fired right up.

Wes I hemmed and hawed over Hookers versus Hedman for about a week. I love the Hookers on my Mustang

However, the 390 will turn into a 444 inch stroker next year, and I wanted to stay with a 3 inch collector and 3 inch all the way back versus 2.5 inch with the Hookers.

I dont need that much pipe now, but I am going to do it so I dont have to do it twice

I agree though another good deal if not going with sewer pipe exhaust LOL

Man Ross, I bet you did hemmed & hawed over the Hookers. LOL I to have been a BIG fan of Hookers and anymore that's all that I run. LOL I do understand why you made the choice that you did. I guess the 64 Falcon is getting the Crites headers for that since no one makes a production set of Headers for it (FE that is) ........

So when are you starting on this Stroker??? Do you have more details on your build??? Enquiring minds want to know! LOL Take care Ross and thanks for the pics/update!!!!

This one wont be like the Mustang. The game plan is the current 390, with a 4.25 arm, probably max 10.1 and maybe 9.5, zero decked and a max effort port on the current iron heads and SD intake.

Maybe even run the current 280H cam. I just want a modern build that pulls hard off idle to about 5500

I am in no hurry, the 390 is fresh (just been sitting)

Well got them on today, went pretty easy

Did some other things under the hood, changed all 3 battery cables to 0/1 cable, rerouted them and cleaned things up a bit.

Need to put the dipstick back in (paint was drying), reroute a couple vacuum lines, put the PS pump back on, probably want to find the correct fan shroud (although its ran without one for 25 yrs LOL), and waiting on a dual feed line and an air cleaner assembly to show up, but its getting closer!

Well true to form with CJ pony parts, after over a month of waiting for my backordered air cleaner and decal, they sent me the air cleaner with a 289 decal in the box instead of the 390 High Performance sticker :x

Does this look like a 289 to you?

Anyway, still waiting on a dual feed line from another supplier, and going to start the 3 inch dual exhaust here pretty soon, so no big hurry for a sticker.

Starting to look OK I think :)

Still looking for a fan shroud, and need to come up with a plan for the rear axle (Dana 60 versus 9 inch) but its getting there!

I move from Southern VA to DC in July, so I need to keep hopping!
