I am 6'4" (6'11" with the afro, man I love Fletch) and I don't have any more of a problem than in any other vehicle. What exactly is the issue for you steering wheel rubbing legs or stomach or something else? My 68 has a worn out seat so I can get my fat ass in there easier than the 67 with a good seat. Neither one is a floor shifter though.

Long legs and a clutch with that big a$$ wheel make it crampt. I dont have a big gut....yet. A smaller wheel will most likely be the first test.nadams wrote:I am 6'4" (6'11" with the afro, man I love Fletch) and I don't have any more of a problem than in any other vehicle. oh and your going to need to grow a afro that fits the height measurements. not just a photo from the movie.1971ford wrote:nadams wrote:I am 6'4" (6'11" with the afro, man I love Fletch) .

smaller wheel, bucket seats. is about the easiest way to do it. or you could be ambitious and do a tilt column swap.

Smaller wheel works wonders. I have one in my F100. There will be one in the F-250 when I get to that point. I hate having the steering wheel hit my thighs when I get in.

You could take out the in cab tank.
That way you can then move the seat assembly back another inch or two and have some more breathing room.
Also Please dont shoot me guys, but you could get a bench seat out of a 88 or newer chevy that has the thin back on it an put that in there.
Its not exactly a bolt in but it does fit fairly easily.

re: Big guy....little cab. Any options to free up space?
I'm 6'5" and about 300lbs. To me, the Bump cab is roomy! My knees hit the dash in just about everything else.
I bought a Falcon steering wheel (same as 67-70 trucks) and it's actually about 1 inch bigger than my original. I'd rather have the extra leverage for tight corners without power steering than go to a smaller wheel.
Spartman, the in-cab tank removal is a great point. You could slide the seat back another 3-4 inches without that tank.

re: Big guy....little cab. Any options to free up space?
I mentioned this recently in another thread. I'm 6' and agree that Fords in general have a lot of cab space. I never fit well in a Chevy, they shove you right into the steering wheel in a Chevy truck.
However, since I'm upgrading to a manual transmission I can see that clutch articulation can be a problem. If I put my foot on the floor were the clutch pedal would be my leg is very close to the steering wheel, (still have the stock big one and it's not going away), so I guess I'll have to get used to clutching with the left leg bowed to the left side of the wheel.![Surprised :o](./images/smilies/icon_surprised.gif)

If you have power steering, maybe a smaller steering wheel would help?
Or, combination of a smaller wheel and a tilt column?
Nick,
Only 5'7", has NO problems fitting!

re: Big guy....little cab. Any options to free up space?
I put a bench seat from a 2004 in my 68. I removed all the 2004 brackets and reused the tracks from the 68 seat. This seat sits lower than the original seat and with a clutch and stock steering wheel I have no problems--lots of headroom now, too! If I take it out for any reason I will add a spacer or a couple of washers to change the angle a little and get the seat away from the back glass some.
