My worst day ever

Post by mercman1953 »

Well I have found out first hand that 4 wheel drum brakes do not come close to stopping like 4 wheel anti-lock disc brakes. You can see from the pics that I wanted to cry! Needless to say I am looking for a good 69 grille either shiny or painted. Hope someone can help me out

ahh sorry man. Glad you are ok. I'm sure enough people around here have stuff to help you get the truck back together again...

now for what you hit... what kinda damages did the bump cause?

Ouch! Sorry to see that. Bet it did a number on the other vehicle :)
Do you already have a replacement hood? I'm considering parting out my '72 - but not really ready to just yet.

Thanks for the thoughts guys. I had my whole family with me the wife and 2 kids. I had put a 3 seat belt in the middle for the kids so other than my wife hitting her head no one was hurt. I hit an Expedition and I got the worst end of it. When he hit his brakes his rear bumper went up and mine went down. His bumper cleared my bumper and even the push guards. The worst part was the kid who was driving was only 15 and didn't even have a permit. needless to say I was not a happy camper!!

Thanks also for the parts offerings. I am going to hold out for a 69 grille for now. The truck is soo original that I want to do it right. it only had 88k on it when I bought it from mickster. It really means tons that everyone wants to help. Bump heads have to stick together!!

Yeah seriously, I hope your wife is ok. Our bumps aren't known for safety, and if you get in an accident, there's a high chance of smacking your noggin into something steel or glass. Hope you and your kids are ok, too.
