Thanks for the pictures of that brake light and switch. That's another thing to watch for now.
The light IS the same light that can be found in some standard Cougars in 1967 and 1968. I've seen them in Cougars anyway. There is a parking brake warning light in the overhead map light console in the XR-7s so that light wouldn't be in an XR-7 Cougar in '67 or '68. The only difference would be the wiring for the Cougar's light goes to a ignition-condenser-sized sending unit that mounts to the hand-pull emergency brake handle in the Cougar. I also believe, if the standard Cougar has one of those lights, that it would be mounted on a bracket that bolts to the underside of the dash.
I haven't been lucky enough to have one of those come into my favorite wrecking yard in a Bumpside pickup yet.
