gauge lights

Post by michael69 »

Can someone tell me which color wire is the one that runs power to the gauge lights. It is in a 69 with the gauges not the lights. Everything else works except the instrument lights. They worked untill I changed to auto steering column and rewired the turn signals switch. :help:

Hey guys don't the light for the heater controls use the same wire or power souce. The light for heater controls works but still can not get gauge lights to work. Anymore suggestions very much needed as you can tell wiring is not my strong point. :help: :help:

yes it is the same circut or maybe the same wire. it might be the ground for the cluster or all of the bulbs are burned out.

its the wire that is bolted to the dash support right behind the inst cluster. and guess what i just found out mine is doing the same thing how nice. but i dont have any lights working. except the cigar lighter now. i replaced two fuses. the small one and the one on the lower left. i ahev nothing on the guages at all. no fuel no alt no water no oil also. i tried another guage setup and nothing still. i will keep working on it in the morning and let you know if i found anything. i did get my dome light working though when i replaced the one fuse.

Yes, the ground wire is "Black" and is wire #57 in that diagram link I posted above. The ground wire is in the harness for the instrument cluster it is not a separate wire, it is however connected to the steering column support as Fordman said. I marked it on this picture that I got from the main site, see attachment below.
I would also, double check the bulbs as well even though they are new... :2cents:
